Hypnotherapy has been
shown to be effective for:
-
Relieving
anxiety before surgery
-
Accelerating
healing of surgical wounds and broken bones
-
Creating
profound comfort and relaxation during or after surgery
-
Stopping or
significantly reducing bleeding
-
Alleviating
anxiety or phobias regarding treatment and recovery
Hypnotherapy engages the
natural healing ability of the subconscious mind. During
sessions, a person is guided into deep body/mind relaxation.
In that relaxed state there is a greater receptivity to
sensations, feelings, imagination and metaphor to bring
about the results the person wants to have.
Hypnosis was approved by the American Medical Association in
1958 for use in medicine and dentistry. There have been many
studies and reports on the value and successes of
hypnotherapy. Here are a couple:

"I had never had surgery before, and had made the major
choice to undergo barriatric surgery. I was nervous about
post surgery pain control and recovery, so my therapist
recommended I see Carol f or pre-surgery hypnosis. I met
with Carol and she helped me to develop a plan of support
and positive thinking. Prior to the surgery, I implemented
the plan I developed with Carol, listened to her guided
imagery CD several times a day, and directly before going
into surgery.
I ended up having to have emergency spinal
surgery several weeks before the barriatric surgery. I think
that the plan I developed with Carol, the hypnosis, and
using the guided imagery before and after the surgeries made
a huge help in my recovery. Between the two surgeries, I
only spent one night in the hospital. I used very little
pain medication, and weaned myself off of the pain
medications earlier than my doctors expected. I also enjoyed
a quick and relatively easy recovery.
I am very grateful that I did pre-surgery hypnosis with
Carol and highly recommend it to others."

"After surgery my surgeon told me that I was smiling gong
into surgery and smiling coming out and had never seen
anything like that before this. What was going on?'
"Hypnosis," I said. I was anxious about my surgery and
wanted to be more centered, so I called Carol. Donna N.
